Paid Organizations can now choose to deploy their Wherobots compute environments and manage resources within this popular AWS region.
Only Professional and Enterprise Edition Organizations can deploy resources in the AWS us-east-1 region.Community Edition Organizations are limited to the us-west-2 region. For more information on Paid Organizations, see Wherobots Pricing. If you have already decided on using a Paid Organization, see Create a new Organization or Upgrade Organization.Get Started with a Paid OrganizationTo create a new Paid Organization or to upgrade an existing Organization, see the following instructions:

Benefits of Using us-east-1

Choosing the AWS us-east-1 region can provide significant advantages depending on your needs:
  • Lower Latency: Deploy Wherobots resources closer to your users, data sources, or application endpoints on the US East Coast. This can significantly reduce network latency, leading to faster data transfers, API responses, and improved interactive performance.
  • Optimized AWS Ecosystem Integration: us-east-1 is AWS’s oldest and one of its largest regions, hosting a vast ecosystem of services. Integrate seamlessly with your existing AWS resources located in us-east-1 (e.g., S3, RDS, Redshift).
    • Running Wherobots in the same region can minimize cross-region data transfer costs (which can be substantial) and dramatically speed up interactions between Wherobots and these services.
  • Data Residency & Compliance: Provides an East Coast option to meet data residency requirements or preferences by keeping your data processing and compute within the AWS us-east-1 region.
  • Architectural Flexibility: Enables building geographically distributed applications by co-locating Wherobots components with your infrastructure or user base concentrated on the East Coast.

Key Features

  • Region Selection: Ability to select AWS us-east-1 as the deployment region when starting Wherobots runtimes.
  • Full Feature Compatibility: Access the full suite of Wherobots features—Job Runs, Notebooks, Airflow Operators, and the SQL session API in the us-east-1 region.
  • Unified Management: Manage resources across supported regions (including us-east-1) through a single Wherobots Cloud interface and billing account.

Important Considerations

  • Refer to Wherobots Pricing for details about pricing and Spatial Unit consumption.
  • Be mindful of potential AWS data transfer costs if moving large amounts of data between us-east-1 and other regions or services outside Wherobots.

Get Started

  • Go to Wherobots Cloud and select AWS us-east-1 when creating a notebook.
  • Set the region parameter to aws-us-east-1 when using the Job Runs REST API.
  • Set the region parameter to Region.AWS_US_EAST_1 when using the Spatial SQL API.
