# ST_Force2D (Python)

## Signature

from sedona.spark.sql.st_functions import ST_Force2D

ST_Force2D(geometry: ColumnOrName) -> Column
```

## Parameters

<ParamField path="geometry" type="ColumnOrName" required>
  Geometry column to force to be 2D.
</ParamField>

## Returns

<ResponseField name="return" type="Column">
  Geometry column identical to geometry except with only X and Y coordinates.
</ResponseField>
