# GeoDataFrame.count_interior_rings

> Return a Series of dtype('int') with the number of interior rings (holes) in each polygon geometry.

Return a `Series` of `dtype('int')` with the number of
interior rings (holes) in each polygon geometry.

Returns 0 for polygons without holes and for non-polygon geometries.

## Signature

```python theme={"system"}
count_interior_rings()
```

## Returns

<ResponseField name="return" type="Series(int)" />

## Examples

>>> from shapely.geometry import Point, Polygon
